Celebrating a Historic Partnership for the Pittsburgh Thunderbirds We’re thrilled to congratulate our very own Matty Frances on his continued role with the Pittsburgh Thunderbirds and their exciting new broadcast partnership with SportsNet Pittsburgh!
For the past decade, Matty has worn many hats within the Thunderbirds organization, and for the last seven seasons, he’s been the In-Stadium Public Address Announcer—bringing energy, excitement, and passion to every home game.
With this new broadcast deal, Thunderbirds games will now reach an even wider audience, giving fans across the region more ways to follow the action. While Matty isn’t part of the official on-air team, his voice will still be heard throughout the games, carrying through on goal calls and major moments as part of the stadium atmosphere. As a key contributor to in-stadium broadcasts, he also occasionally fills in for the on-air team, adding his unique touch to the game-day experience.
This is a huge milestone for the Thunderbirds, and we encourage everyone in the Pittsburgh area to tune in and support the team this season. Congratulations to Matty and the entire Thunderbirds organization on this exciting step forward!
